By Frank O'Collins (September 2008)

On April 19, 2008, Henry Lamb the Chairman of Sovereignty International and founder of the Environmental Conservation Organization published a scathing and fearful article through WorldNetDaily.Com entitled “The new Constitution of America’s Union”. |
| |
In his article, Mr Lamb used references to the draft constitution of the Americas Union mixed with his own political opinions and general state to state cooperation to paint a grim picture of some impending plan to impose a pan-American socialist or fascist super state.
| |
The article created some internet interest, but no mainstream interest. As a result, I did not feel it urgent to respond respectfully to the gross errors published by Mr Henry Lamb in April of this year. However, I have now decided to respond to these errors and set the record straight.

“Don’t worry about the details…” |
| |
As any tabloid magazine editor would tell you, don’t let facts get in the way of a good story. On first glance, the article by Mr Lamb might be just one of those stories.
| |
There exists substantial and well researched opposition to any kind of move towards a North American Union (“NAU”) model based on any kind of copying of the European Model. The “EU” model has been a complete financial disaster wasting hundreds of billions of dollars of member state investment in building a bloated centralist bureaucracy that adds negative value.
| |
But for fans of conspiracy and dark intrigue, Mr Lamb added additional spice by heavily implying that President Bush and his “powerful friends” are somehow behind the Draft Constitution of the Americas Union. It is no wonder then that his article raised so much negative reaction to the Constitution including personal slurs on the character of its author.
| |
So if one were to read just this article, forgiving Mr Lamb for misspelling the major global city of Sydney as “Sidney” it might alarm some. If one were not to look at the web site and clearly see an email address for contact including links to the author, motives and who is behind the website, then the words of Mr Lamb might indeed be a light calling out in the wilderness.
| |
Yet the undeniable facts prove that Mr Lamb is unfortunately guilty of making the whole thing up. There is no conspiracy. There is no dark sinister plot. The Constitution of the Americas Union exists at this point just the incomplete designs of an individual philosopher named Frank O’Collins living in Sydney.

| |
“Ten minutes of simple research” |
| |
Of course Mr Lamb could have easily found out all these facts back in April. All the details were there on the web site. Mr Lamb could have easily emailed the author and confirmed that he and he alone is the author of the web site and that he has received not one single cent in assistance.
| |
Mr Lamb would also have quickly seen the complete set of web sites including detailed biography on Frank O’Collins and his motives behind the design of the Americas-Union.Org web site.
| |
Sadly, Mr Lamb did not think such brief research was warranted in the face of creating a complete fiction.

The freedom of speech and expression
| |
For many who read the article and subsequent blogs concerning Mr Lamb, the Americas-Union.Org website maybe a real concern and negative idea. Some of you may even believe that such a site should not exist at all.
| |
But in any negative response there exists also the question of the right to expression the freedom of speech and ideas. Do I, an author have the right to express ideas, even if other people don’t read them, and make up superficial opinions? If a person does take the time to read some of the codes of law and draft constitution and has valid concerns, do I not have the right to read those concerns and debate the merits?
| |
Sometimes an idea exists because nature hates a vacuum, because ideas need to be debated. A draft constitution is a start. Something that can be contested, argued and ultimately imrproved so no negative claim is valid. |
