Universal Declaration on Money and Wealth |
| |
It is an essential human right to own property and earn fair reward for meaningful work. |
| |
However, for many millions of individuals a lack of resources and wealth means they exist in extreme poverty and in some cases considerable hunger. |
| |
The reality is that the distribution of wealth and money on planet Earth is far from equitable. As such, great philosophical and moral debates have raged for millenia on the ideal society and conditions for social wealth. |
| |
Some people believe that a just society is only one free from personal property, that the most efficient society is by nature "socialist" in its management of resources. In contrast, many people and national leaders believe and have proven that personal property and self-employment are critical to building a successful economy and society. |
| |
By virtue of the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration on Human Rights, the United Nations has both a moral and political responsibility to maintain a leading position in providing clarity on issues and topics of complex human interaction. |
| |
The United Nations must now provide leadership in this area and make a clear declaration on the fundamental meaning of wealth and money and its place in the world and how all humans might share in fairer equity of resources. This is the purpose of the Universal Declaration of Money and Wealth. |
| |
The growth in prosperity and reduction in poverty |
| |
The physical growth in prosperity of every human being and the end to proverty are by implication massive changes to the current infrastructure and systems of the world economy. Such massive change is therefore something to be expected to take many years and possibly lifetimes to be fulfilled. |
| |
However, the importance of the existence of a clear and unmistakable moral framework for money and wealth cannot be understated in its importance. Its very existence and awareness by people around the world will itself effect great change, without a single dollar being spent to do so. That is because poverty and a persons financial state is firstly a factor of their state of mind and secondly their real world condition. |
| |
By being aware, people will change. It is therefore a most urgent and moral task of the United Nations to consider and implement the Universal Declaration of Money and Wealth. |
